Who Are We?

History

The Prospects organization was established as a volunteer tutor program in 1980, by a group of individuals representing Edmonton Public Library, Alberta Vocational College, the YWCA, and Grant MacEwan College. From 1980 - 1997, we matched more than 4000 adults with volunteer tutors to develop reading, writing and math skills. In 1991 we became a registered charity. In 1993, we began to deliver a variety of family literacy programs to help parents support their children's literacy development. We have assisted more than 2500 families through these programs.
